Travel recommendation - Transylvania

Offroad bike rider already know it: Transylvania is worth more than a single journey. The country which is bordered by Carpathian-mountains also invites bikers on roadbikes, outfits or trikes. Whether culture or pure nature, there is much to see and to explore off beaten tracks including the towns of Braşov or Sibiu. Those who go off the main roads found themselves travelling alone without any traffic at all. Road conditions may vary from excellent to poor with sometimes only gravel surfaces predominant. Not much of a worry when dry and your vehicle has got a normal ground clearance. Readers that like to plan in advance can be made a suggestion where to stop for some time and start your excursions.

The guesthouse Phoenix (Phoenix Panzió) is situated at the village on the hill Şugaş Bãi close to the town of Sfântu Gheorghe (Hungerian Sepsiszentgyörgy, German Sankt Georgen). Şugaş Bãi can be reached from Sankt Georgen via a ten kilometer tarmaced road (No 121C) whichs ends here after 15 minutes drive. This causes a quiet surround. This guesthouse has got a long history. First a private venture, it was taken over during communist era by the town St. Georgen. In 2005 it changed ownership again and was bought by current owners Rozália and Csaba Simon who completely restored the place including all guest rooms. There are four guestrooms with double beds, one that sleeps four and one apartment. All rooms have en suite showers/toilets and satellite TV.

Guests may prepare their own food in the central kitchen but full board also is possible. The lady of the house, Rozália Simon, has a good command of German and Hungarian language alongside her native Romanian. Also she provides a host of useful information for local trips. Porch and garden, including the barbecue, can be used to relax and if it’s slightly chilly outside, a sauna invites to warm up. Ample parking space is provided.
