RUKO - Beemer for the advanced

Recently we had the chance
to get hold of a BMW-S 1000 RR fitted to a Ruko-Sportivo sidecar. Anybody asking why combine such a roadburner with a sidecar? After driving this combo you would be longing to own one. It feels so much more compact as any of those K1200/K1300- or Hayabusa conversions. And a Beemer is preferred by the chair brigade anyway.

Here we have some technical stuff for you: Front end guided by Ruko’s Vario 4 hub-center-steering, back end with standard twin swingarm and sidecar wheel with new double-linear wheel control. Suspension controlled by HH Tace Tech units - bike side with Eibach springs.
OZ Ultra Leggera ally rims come all round with hefty 195/45 R 16. Original BM-chassis is re-inforced with a sub-frame. No-one would expect other than ventilated 295 discs made by AP-Racing and BigB-four pot calliper plus a widened Brembo four pot device in front, side by a BigB fixed calliper stopper and only the back remains unaltered. Three callipers are controlled by foot pedal, hand lever operates Brembo unit in front and second calliper on the chair wheel.

The sidecar is based on the platform chassis of the “Sportivo-M” but is modified by owner Martin Bereiter to fit harmonically with bike’s looks. Martin owns a big car body repair and paint shop in the town of Bad König (Germany). He has done a great many bikes and chairs for customers making him an expert in body design. His own chair is altered front and rear. It received additional stowage room underneath the body and holds two kids as passengers.

Additional features of this beauty are superbike handlebar, footrests by ABM, silencer from AC Schnitzer, electronic “Speedo-heeler” device for correcting the original speedo’s reading and an auxiliary fuel tank holding 20 litres below the seat. Dimensions: Length 2,200 mm, width 1,800 mm, wheelbase 1,630 mm, track 1,340 mm, s/c axle pre-set 350 mm, trail 20 mm and neg. castor trail 30 mm
