Somehow the letters “GS” in the BMW vocabulary have an impact on friends of motorcycle combinations with a boosting effect. That goes with the F-model range too. Whereas other Bavarian inline hardware is not considered to be worthwhile to be used as power unit for chairs, that enduro type model has attracted some manufacturers to convert it to sidecar hauling usage. Latest entry to that market niche Sidecar News can announce the Faßbender version that has been carried out at the Mobec workshop. W-Tec/EML dealer Faßbender intends to supply from Krefeld the F800GS harnessed to the EML S1 chair to customers that do not want to go R1200GS way because of optics and prices. |
For ease of handling Mobec employs USD-forks with special machined yokes to achieve a trail of 43 mm. Easy going! Harder breeds can order leading links instead. A bolt on sub-frame is used to take the four chair mountings and the spoke wheels receive shorter 15” spokes. Normal braking is by foot pedal but other methods are thinkable.
More technical spec: Wheel base 1,630 mm, Width 1,195 mm, Trail 370 mm, Toe-in 18 mm, Empty weight 290 Kg, Permissible Weight 690 Kg.
